Early in the 2010-2011 school year Mrs. King's second graders wrote letters to Mrs. Kurtze's 6th hour class of 6 students. Mrs. Kurtze's class wrote back and the "Big Kids' Letters" found a prominent place in the second grade classroom.
Near Christmas, the Big Kids came to read books to the second graders teaching the importance of questioning before, during and after reading. In addition to thank you letters, the second graders made a digital thank you for the big kids. They recorded what they learned and summarized their experience.
